After spending six years together, Carlos and Fernando have adopted a baby. They’re able to produce milk in their throats, for their new offspring.
Now before you go and get too grossed out that two humans are producing milk in their throats and feeding it to children, I should say that Carlos and Fernando, along with their child, are a
ll flamingos.
Carlos and Fernando have been waiting a long time for a child of their own. They’ve been trying to run mothers off of their nest for a while, longing to have a family of their very own. Recently, a nest was abandoned and Carlos and Fernando were the most likely candidates to hatch and raise the baby flamingo on their own.
Carlos and Fernando are not oddities either, apparently gay flamingos are not uncommon. “If there aren’t enough females or they don’t hit it off with them, they will pair off with other males,”said WWT (Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, in Slimbridge near Bristol, England) spokeswoman Jane Waghorn.
